Magnet™ and Pathway to Excellence™
Our hospitals are encouraged to consider designation for either Pathway to Excellence™ or Magnet™ as we believe that the standards help create the best environment for nurses to care for our patients. Several of our hospitals currently participate in the California Nursing Outcomes Coalition (CalNoc) or National Database for Nursing Quality (NDNQI) databases as a way to compare outcomes on nursing-sensitive indicators across hospitals of similar size and service lines. We are pleased to report that St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children and Hehnemann University Hospital, both in Philadelphia, have achieved Magnet™ designation and that Lake Pointe Medical Center in Texas has achieved Texas Nurse Friendly™ (now Pathway to Excellence™) designation. Several other hospitals have begun their journeys to one of the two designations.
