RN residency
Successful transition of the new graduate from the classroom into clinical practice remains a priority for Tenet. In 2006, Tenet implemented an innovative, 18-week post-graduate residency program for new nurse graduates as a retention enhancement strategy. The nurse residency program is designed to:
- Increase the competency and quantity of new graduate nurse applicants
- Increase the commitment, engagement and retention of new graduate nurses within the organization
- Facilitate the successful transition of the new graduate nurse to the status of a professional Registered Nurse
- Increase the overall recruitment and selection of the new graduate nurse hire
- Develop skills for an entry-level staff nurse and enhance confidence and level of patient care provided
- Reduce operating costs associated with new graduate turnover and the use of premium-priced agency nurses and staff overtime, and improve physician satisfaction related to the quality of care provided by our professional nursing staff
