Brookwood Nurses Nominated for Compassionate Care Award

Congratulations to Ellen Carmichael and Camille Filoromo! Ellen Carmichael, MSN, CRNP, Clinical Nurse Manager, (pictured on the left) is the recipient of the 2011 Jo Ann Barnett Award for Compassionate Care in the Administration category. Also Camille Filoromo, PhD, Med, BSN, RN, Administrative Director of Critical Care, was nominated for the award. Jo Ann Barnett, a BSN and MSN graduate of the UAB School of Nursing, was a champion for the highest quality compassionate care for her patients and their families. The Nursing Chapter of the UAB National Alumni Society established an award to honor her service to her patients, community, and alma mater. Her legacy lives on through the lives she touched and through this award that recognizes nurses who: exemplify the best in nursing care, go beyond what is necessary and do what is needed and reach beyond what is required and do what is right. Nominees must be graduates of the UAB School of Nursing. Recipients and all nominees were honored and recognized at the UAB SON Alumni Night and Awards Dinner on October 7th, 2011.
